Nau mai, haere mai ki Ngongotahā School
A warm welcome to Ngongotahā School. Whether you’re visiting our website for the first time or are already part of our kura, we’re proud to have you as part of our learning community.
Ngongotahā School is a vibrant, inclusive primary school located just north of Rotorua, serving 350–420 ākonga. We are proud of the strong sense of whanaungatanga here — a feeling of connection, belonging, and shared purpose between students, staff, and whānau.
Our school offers high-quality teaching and learning programmes, underpinned by strong values and a commitment to every learner’s success. We prioritise literacy and numeracy, provide rich opportunities in the arts, sports and leadership, and are focused on supporting students to develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive.
We are a dual-medium kura, offering both English and Māori medium education. Our rumaki unit supports tamariki to learn and grow in a Māori language and tikanga environment, and we are proud of the bicultural identity of our kura.
At Ngongotahā, our staff are passionate, skilled, and dedicated. We have high expectations of ourselves and our learners, and we believe in building positive relationships as the foundation for success. We know that great attendance is key to great learning — and we work closely with whānau to make sure every day counts.
We value communication and partnership with parents and caregivers. You are always welcome to visit, ask questions, and get involved in school life. We want you to feel informed, included, and confident in the learning journey your child is on.
Whether your child is just starting out, transferring from another school, or returning after time away — we’re here to support a smooth, positive transition. Ngongotahā School is a place where tamariki feel safe, supported and challenged to be their best.
Ngā manaakitanga,
